About Me

I grew up in Austria with a Canadian mother and an Austrian father. Therefore I'm bilingual. I studied at the Universities of Toronto and St. Andrews, Scotland and completed my teacher training at the Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education. In addition to teaching and translating, I did a variety of freelance work such as:

  • Interpreting for a medical institute in Wales
  • Hosting and sales for a polymer company at a tradeshow in Munich
  • German correspondence and phone calls for sales departments
  • Taught business German to employees of international plastics company

I have thoroughly enjoyed my teaching career, be it G.C.S.E. and A Level German classes at both comprehensive and boarding schools or adult conversational German at the Herefordshire College of Technology. I also taught business German for an international company, prepared students for R.S.A. exams and taught spoken German to infants in a primary school.

In 2005 I completed a CELTA certificate in teaching English as a foreign language. I have contributed to a GCSE revision guide and written educational materials for Herefordshire Through Time and the Cider Museum Hereford. I love the challenge of public speaking which has been an interesting part of my varied career in education. I love teaching, I love communicating and I love teaching people to communicate - in German or English.

I am currently contributing to the online general interest magazine Old & Bold - ageing with attitude. Check it out, lots of interesting blogs. http://www.oldandbold.club
